I met Steve at the old Leicester show a couple of times and had phone conversations with him. He also answered a question for me in a Q&A in Total Flyfisher and I bought some bits from him to restore a favourite rod. So although I didn't exactly know him, I will miss him and his open, forthright but very helpful way. His regular 'Parting Shot' article will be difficult (impossible?) to replace. David Fisher
