Steve The Float Tube Daddy

I first met Steve in 1981 when he had a unit in Sileby, Leicestershire. from the very first day I met him I found him to be generous with his time, supportive and helpful with tackle and fly-tying products and amazingly entertaining with histake on life in general. In 1993 I took up float tubing and together with Steve, Jim and Ifor at Thornton, launched the British Float Tube Association. The Association is still going strong today promoting float tubing in the UK and the basic principles for safety and good practice remain as written by Steve and are our official policy. I will miss him as a personality in fishing and I hope I with my BFTA members can help to keep his legacy alive by pushing the boundaries of fly-fishing and getting tubing more widely accepted. RIP Steve our thoughts are with your family and of course for our buddy Jim. Andre Russell - Chairman BFTA
