Alex Booth Flyfishers

Steve was an active member of the Alex Booth Fly Fishers in the early days of the clubs existence, he would regularly give talks during the winter month’s unfortunately I was not at any of those meetings as I was not a member at that time, but I did learn a bit off him during our dinner time sessions down at the factory in Long Eaton. He eventually took a dislike to match fishing and it was then that he became less active in the club, but he would still give advice to members etc, albeit with the intention of selling them something. Steve was one of the modern day fly fishing pioneers along with the likes of Bob Church & Co. A regular contributor to TFF, you always looked forward to reading his page every month, he was not everyone cup of tea; some say he was outspoken but you had to admire the fact that he said things the way he saw them, he never left anyone in doubt about what he meant. We will all miss his dry wit and sense of humour. A legend has passed, a real shock and our thoughts are with Jenna and family, he will be sorely missed. RIP. Steve, we are losing another great character from the world of fly fishing. Roy Lewin
